1. Bride
enters the wedding hall; at the entrance a young girl washes her feet. Arathi
by 5 married ladies. Bride taken in procession to the stage and seated to the
left of the stage
2. Groom
enters the wedding hall at the entrance feet washed by the Bride’s brother.
Arathi by 5 married ladies. Groom taken in procession to the stage and seated
to the right of the stage
3. Ganesha
pooja with garland, kalasha and mangalia. Purohith does the pooja with the
parents of the couple. They are given arathi thirtha and Prasad
4. The
Bride’s parents take the kalasha to be blessed by elders and guests , come back
to the stage and the parents pray to the crowd for their blessings
5. Bride
and Groom taken by the sister and brother in law of Groom round the mantap 3
times and brought to the centre of the mantap. Garland exchange. The Groom
sprinkles shesha on the Brides head and garlands the Bride change of sides.
6. Dharay –
pouring of water
7. Vows –
Groom keeps his right hand on the Brides left shoulder and takes the marriage
vow.
8. Homa
pooja for couple. Go around the fire 3 times. Each time pouring the hodalu
given by the Brides Brother
9. Sapthapadhi
– After sapthapadi the mangalia is tied , all members sprinkle shesha
10. Brides
father makes the Groom and Bride sit down to the Grooms left side is the Bride
11. Arathi
by 5 married ladies
12. Two
elderly ladies keep Shesha tray on the stool
13. Boy’s
parents to bless the couple first. Girl’s parents to bless the couple second. Family
elders next followed by family friends. Once the wishing is completed the
couple are led out to see the sun brought back and made to sit and given tender
coconut water
14. Purohith
mantra for handing over the bride to the Grooms mother. The couple take the
blessings of all family members and leave for lunch
